First Foundation Scholarship

We talk about our commitment to the future of New Zealand a lot. But we have always thought it important that our actions match our words. This is why we, and many other prominent New Zealand companies, throw our support behind the First Foundation.

First Foundation provides a unique four year partnership with academically talented but financially disadvantaged secondary school students in New Zealand. Our two First Foundation scholars are being financially supported through university, while also getting work experience with us during the holiday breaks. Joshua Hemara, our first First Foundation four-year scholar recently completed the first three years of a very ambitious university course where he will graduate with majors in Accounting, Marketing and Law. This completes his four year sponsorship with First Foundation. Here Joshua is shown with his Research New Zealand sponsor, Emanuel Kalafaletis, his First Foundation Mentor, Stuart Goodin and his parents. “We are very pleased to see the progress Joshua has made in his studies and he will continue his work experience with us for at least another year”, says Emanuel Kalafatelis.	Kimberley Olivecrona, our second First Foundation four-year scholar receiving her scholarship award from Emanuel Kalafatelis in 2006, and on a more recent work day. "Working at Research New Zealand is giving me some great work experience and the opportunity to go to university and be mostly debt free when I've finished - it takes off a lot of pressure."
